The Wii version. The controls just feel so... right, not tacked-on at all :P. But... if you get the GC version, you have crappier special effects, no Wii controls (God, how do you do the Back Slice on the GameCube ._.?)...

Okay, let's look at it this way:

Wii version: Pros
  • Better special effects - no lie.
  • Pwnsome Wii controls.

GC version: Pros
  • Action Replay support - play the beta version, Beta Forest, magic meter, etc.
  • The world isn't flipped - see it as it was meant to be. Left-handed Link FTW!

But, to be honest... all of the GC pros can't stand up to the Wii controls.

After getting some experience, my sword fights on TP ruled, I shaked the Wii-mote so much, but it was fun.
I haven't played the GC one, but the controls on Wii... :D

Yeah, everybody seems to love the Wii controls. Honestly, that one boss battle... I was hopping from foot to foot... just pressing that button as fast as I could... then I stop, hold B, point with the Wiimote, grapple there, then stab the thing in the back - with my sword, with my Wiimote.

I'm being vague, that's just because I don't want to spoil it for everyone <_<

Fail.

-Camera control

The graphics are just fine.

Wii controls are heavily overrated.

The graphics are still fantastic, yes, but the special effects are slightly updated on the Wii. Not hugely noticable, but the difference is there.

As for the Wii controls, they aren't that overrated. They really are fun. And yeah, Back Slice, even though it is still basically pressing a button on the Wii version as well, when I think of doing it on a GC controller, I... find TP crappy :-\.

I voted "they are the same", because really, they are.  I had been hoping to play it on the Wii, but being as I haven't been able to get a Wii, and I was really tired of waiting, I just got the GC version.  It was fantastic, and as far as I can tell, the only graphical differences are that on the Wii version there is 16:9 support as well as 480i.

If you already have a Wii, I would get that version, if not, I would get the GC version.  You won't really miss out on anything taking the GC route, and besides, that way your first Wii Zelda game experience will be the one made specifically for the systems power and controls, (the one they've stated that has been in development for the last year or so).

I haven't played the wii version.

-No game killing glitches
-Camera control
My Gamecube TP crashed at least four times in one play-though. There's nothing wrong with my cube, it was completely software (as other people's crashed too, plus other games don't crash).

And the Gamecube Camera control on TP was AWFUL. It was the thing which annoyed me the most.

The world isn't flipped - see it as it was meant to be. Left-handed Link FTW!
Yes, but to counter that, several individual items look flipped in the gamecube version.

To be honest I say wait for the wii version. It's exactly the same really, but with the added bonus of the wii controls which, judging by the posts here, are quite good.

I kind of agree with that.  I don't know about anyone else, but the camera control while riding Epona was one of the single most frustrating things I've experienced in a game recently.  Now, that might have seemed so bad because of how good the rest of the game is in contrast, but wow, it really pissed me off at the time.

Yeah. I also hated that you couldn't keep the camera angled from the front most of the time, it always flicked back to behind Link. I don't understand why they didn't just reuse the Wind Waker camera, which was just about perfect (in comparison at least).

Definately get gamecube version:  The whole world isn't reversed, and you don't have to play with dumb wii controls.  The only advantage to the Wii version for me was Widescreen.

Uhm, I think they reversed the Gamecube version when they decided to start developing it for the Wii.

I'd get the Wii version. The controls are really good.

Nope, other way around.  Link has typically always been left-handed, (derr!),  but when Miyamoto saw that the majority of people playing held the wiimote in their right hand, they decided to make Link a righty.

I think at first they just flipped Link around to begin with, but at this point the majority of the game was completed and it had some gameplay mechanics that didn't work properly with Link's model flipped.  They ultimately decided the best way to do it was to flip the entire world.

Uh huh. And why is that? Is it the swings that come a quarter second after actual input? The lack of camera control? Is it the widescreen, "better aiming" (which isn't that better at all because it doesn't matter), or what? Sounds about even, so it comes down to level design. Which begs the question: what is better, the way a level was designed to be played, or mirror flipped?
