R4 Revolution for DS

The R4 Revolution for DS. My [CENSORED] bought one, and I'm just wondering...

1. Is it legal? I'm guessing that it's legal, just as long as you don't use it for illegal purposes (i.e. pirated games/movies).
2. If it is legal like I said, would it be a legal action to put homebrew games on it?
3. If so, where could we find these homebrew games?

If the R4 is totally illegal and is not to be discussed on these forums, then please delete this topic.

1. Erm, I think so, not sure on this one.
2. This one I know for sure is legal, homebrew is allowed.
3. Erm, there is a Zelda Side-Scroller demo floating around somewhere on these forums :P look for that, as for others, not sure.

It's legal, and homebrew is also completely legal.  I have and love my R4 :P

I've had DoomDS and QuakeDS, paint application, etc on my R4-- homebrew kicks ass.  (for doomDS and quakeDS you will only be able to play the demo version unless you own the full version)

Just google around for a bit; you'll find some sweet games.

Thanks guys. That clears some things up!

Now, I looked around on Google and it's really confusing. I couldn't find !@#$%.
That paint application that you mentioned sounded great, do you think you could tell me if you find one?

I found a website where you can order R4 English and a 2GB MicroSD card for about 80 bucks.

Well I already have a 4gb Micro SD, so I just wanna get the R4 by it self.

Yep, completely legal, it was originally made for homebrew, but people use it for pirated games, i'm probably gonna get a flashcart for my fat DS when i get a job.

1.  The device itself is legal, though its potential for illegal use is the reason why you won't find it in local electronics stores.

Indeed, there's that one made by our own Lupidan, but unfortunately it only works on slot-2 devices due to the PAFS filesystem he used.  If he streamed the music from the media card rather than embedding it into the *.nds file, it could run on all devices, but this was when everybody only had slot-2 devices to begin with.  There are other good games though.  I'd personally recommend Whee! DS, AmplituDS, and Warcraft Tower Defense.
