If video games are ever going to be viewed as art, it needs a better name.
Movies have cinema, books have literature, so what about video games?

By that logic, Final Destination 3 is a video game. I like legofreak's idea.

Hear the haunting words (They'll find you alone)
lost children with no heart are crying (Turning their hearts into stone)
and you're the lost mother they're calling
Go now, run and hide (seek more than vengeance)
I hear them crying at night (your pain is their satisfaction)
outside when the planets are falling (for the rest of time)
They want to feel and know you hear them (Go now, run and hide)

You could use "reenactment" for certain games. Example:

Person A - Hey, want to help me with my math homework?

Person B - Sorry, I'm busy.  I have to participate in a WWII reenactment.

Person A - Oh, that sounds interesting.  Have fun.

Person B - Oh I will.

*Person B procedes to play a WWII shooter the rest of the night*

I'm off to play some engaged cinema. Sounds more like the title to one game then a term for gaming. Example...

"Did you hear they were announcing "ENGAGED CINEMA II: Call to Arms" on the PS3?"

I really don't see a point giving video games some pretentious title. I mean, "video games", suits it fine. I hate it when new things are given some stupid formal/latin/greek title. Video games is the term. It's not changing.

"Did you hear they were announcing "ENGAGED CINEMA II: Call to Arms" on the PS3?"

You mean, "than a term".

O_O lol grammar wars.

I had someone on this very forum say to me "I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE USE BAD GRAMMER". <rofl

anyway.

It may not be the most elegant term for playing video games, but I usually call it "not masturbating"...

It makes it so much easier when people ask me what I'm doing...

"Travis! What are you doing?"
"I'm not masturbating, thats what I'm (not) doing"

You see how that works? lol
