As for accuracy; I feel it can be sacrificed so long as it has the feeling and atmosphere of the original.
Theres so many things in which there is no choice, though there are many ways in which to crush conflicting 3d game components into a 2d game, such that it doesnt fit: eg: 2d OOT should play as a 2d zelda game. No 360 degree+140 degree pitching hookshot, no z target influenced movement and yaw (though for speech and object interaction it'd be ok), smaller/more detailed fields etc. However alot of the things can actually be applied very well, with the right tools and some nice ideas and effects. At a lower level (eg direct access to a 3d api) so many things could be represented in 2d really well in realtime, and complimenting actions conveyed to the user.
