I just got mine about 3 months back and it doesn't work anymore.
Not even a red ring, it just freezes.

Luckily I have till 2010 to return it, which I am going to do.

Gah, stupid 360's.

When I read that, my first thought was "Holy crap! That's a long time!"

Then I realised we're already in 2008.

Also, that sucks about your 360, but I maintain that they're awesome. Mostly because I'm getting one for my birthday in 2 weeks, and I don't want to regret the decision.

So that's why you wouldn't join me in Halo 3...

Well keep experimenting with it. If you can't get it to work, send 'er in to Microsoft, I guess.

Make sure it's directly plugged into the wall power supply thing.

I had to go through 2 before I had a working one. It's a good thing I don't play it much because I'm not interested in another red ring.

But fate wouldn't do that to me... right?

How long were you running it for? Freezes are indicative of overheating and the GPU melting on to the mainboard. Make sure your 360 is in a cooled and well ventilated space at *all times*. Remember, it's like a desktop computer; cant be left on or overburdened especially in summer because of the heat.

I haven't used it in 7 days then it decides to red ring.
Also it's on top of my dresser in an open area.

Oh and no longer on top of my satellite.

Yeah mine locked up quite a bit before it red ringed; then sometimes it would start up and freeze. Sounds like your GPU melted to your mainboard.

How warm is your room on average? Also, which games were you running?

I have tried every single game.
They all freeze.
Also my room is generally more cold than it is warm, so no problems there.

How long are you running it for consecutively? It's best to let it sit for an hour for every 2 hours you run it. I personally don't play my 360 too much, but my roommate used to run it for 9 hours straight daily until it died :P I told him "It's okay this time, I've still got it under warranty, but next time you owe me." lol

I think this is the reason why I didn't want an Xbox360...
The first version of the PS2 lasted longer then this.
Just goes to show how Microsoft shouldn't make consoles, and should stick to there Windows Vista stuff.

This is the same with any electrical device that has to work hard. It's up to the consumer to make sure they don't over do it; it's not up to Microsoft to regulate how long something is played.

Anyway Ryan, my suggestion would be to send it in to MS; they'll have it fixed in a couple of weeks (took me 2 weeks to get mine back, and they even gave me a new faceplate :P). If your warranty has expired, then purchase their $40 2 year warranty and send it in ^_^

Ah nice lol it's actually a neat feeling when you open your fresh Xbox 360 outta the package lol When my replacement came in the mail it was like christmas all over again :p

EDIT: I hit my 360 like other people said and it worked for about 2 minutes then beeped and froze.
