I think this is the reason why I didn't want an Xbox360...
The first version of the PS2 lasted longer then this.
Just goes to show how Microsoft shouldn't make consoles, and should stick to there Windows Vista stuff.

Anything that has high graphical output runs warm. Obviously solder and metal connectors can't withstand extreme amounts of heat, so when the system pulls a lot at one time, it becomes warm. This is the same with any electrical device that has to work hard. It's up to the consumer to make sure they don't over do it; it's not up to Microsoft to regulate how long something is played.
Anyway Ryan, my suggestion would be to send it in to MS; they'll have it fixed in a couple of weeks (took me 2 weeks to get mine back, and they even gave me a new faceplate
). If your warranty has expired, then purchase their $40 2 year warranty and send it in ^_^
